This photo was taken around five in the morning. The early morning sunlight was very soft and the angle of incidence was low. Clare Bridge and the newly green willows were quietly reflected on the River Cam.

When I first came to study in the UK, I saw the cherry blossoms at Clare College and was captivated by their lush and symmetrical shape. I used an ultra-wide-angle lens to capture the cherry blossoms and the college's classical architecture. When I returned to Cambridge for a visit in 2017, I discovered that the cherry tree had been cut down due to disease. It made me sigh at the impermanence of life.

King's College Chapel

I like to use the sunlight before sunset in Europe to shoot buildings, which feels particularly warm and soft. In addition, I also used a PC Super Angulon 28mm tilt-shift lens to shoot this photo. Its advantage is that it can control the perspective point of the building, making the building look perpendicular to the ground without any sense of tilt.

With meticulous observation and a humanistic perspective, Professor Wang captures the soul of this ancient institution—a spirit that blends rationality and romance, tradition and innovation.
